THE JOURNEY FROM DACA: A MOVEMENT THAT BEGINS WITH VISION

The journey of the movement reflects a remarkable evolution in grassroots political mobilization. In 2021, ahead of the 2023 general elections, the group was established and operated as the Dapo Abiodun Continuity Agenda (DACA) under the leadership of its Convener, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, and its State Executive Members, led by the Coordinator, Hon. Olusegun Kaka, alongside other dedicated leaders within the movement.

DACA emerged as a political structure established to support the re-election bid of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, while embracing a broader ideological framework centered on progressive values, inclusiveness, and people-oriented leadership.

The group's passion for grassroots politics naturally led to its active participation in the All Progressives Congress (APC). Through its DACA platform, the group played a significant role in mobilizing grassroots support for the re-election of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

As part of its commitment to empowering the people and strengthening its grassroots presence, the movement initiated several empowerment programmes and provided various forms of support, including motorcycles, grinding machines, generators, and a shop complex in Iperu.

The group also erected campaign billboards across Ogun State, with more than 50 billboards reportedly established across the state ahead of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s successful bid for a second term in office.
